Yes, I feed Chloe this food. It is what my vet recommended after Chloe kept breaking out in rashes (environmental-thought to be allergic to something in the yard) and then developed secondary bacterial infections. It also turns out that Chloe is hypothyroid and so is prone to skin problems. She likes the food, hasn't had a rash since I put her on it (2 years ago). I have also noticed she doesn't get that "extreme houndy" smell when she eats this food. (This, is a good thing.)
Hope this helps. Colleen |

Yogi was on that food for quite some time but I think the reason I took him off of it was so I could do a food allergy trial for him. He ended up being on one of those super expensive vet prescription diets for about twelve weeks or so while we did the food trial. He did okay on the ProPlan but once we were done with the allergy food trial I decided to investigate some other types of food and now have him on AvoDerm Natural Oven Baked Beef dry food which he loves and does rather well on it. He has been on it for a couple years now. I recently tried to switch him to the chicken kind and after eating it for a few weeks he decided he doesn't like it!
For the most part he doesn't have a houndie smell unless his allergies are kicking up which they have been lately from leaf mold.

Thanks bcc11 and Yogi's Mom. I asked because unfortunately, my Fred has started scratching his face since I put him on Diamond Naturals. He has NEVER done that and the Vet said its a likely chance that it is his food because its the only change I've made within the past 2 months.
The Vet recommended Pro Plan for Sensitive Skin and Stomach for Fred and I just wondered out of curiosity how well are bassets on that particular brand of food. What works for other dogs don't necessarily work for bassets. I found that out the HARD way. We have had the dog food BLUES! |

I tried that for my dogs because Lily has sensitive skin and Gibbs has a sensitive stomach. They wouldn't eat for days to the point they were throwing up bile constantly. I ended up putting them back on Beneful until I could investigate further into some other foods to try. I now have then on the Nutro Natural for Sensitive Skin and Stomachs (lavendar bag) and they are doing 100 times better now and they love their food!
