Question

She is fine but it was horrible. I am just a mess ...we are all a mess. We've had high winds and lots of rain today. She hasn't been outside much due to the bad weather and I guess she needed a last potty bread before bedtime.

Around 10:00 pm, I heard Steve screaming "Get towels ...Dixie fell in the pool!!!" ...so I ran out the sliding door to find my husband holding a sopping wet dog in the dark windy rain.

Steve was reading in bed, which is close to the sliding glass door, when he heard "splunk" ...and then splashing. He ran out to find her treading water at the side of the pool.

We have Marty to thank ....she was her "Foster Mom" who taught her to swim, even though she HATES the water. Thank God she did this. I am a total mess thinking about what could have happened

I am going to assume that this was due to the horrible weather tonight and not her vision. She has never gone near the pool before. We're keeping the doggie door closed for the night and I will observe her tomorrow. She's dried off now and resting on her Fluffy. I can't calm down ...I will probably have nightmares tonight.

Thank God! That was a close call and I can see why you would freak. At least it had a good ending.

Whew!
Only those who live with the Bassets can understand how we feel when they are in danger. She will probably be alright but it will take some time for you and dad to get over it.

That could've been really horrible. Thank goodness that everything turned out okay.
