Well... every week for the past few years my wife and I would discuss getting a new dog... a couple of weeks ago we finally said, "Lets do it!" We both grew up with bigger dogs (Springers, Labs, Weimerainers(sp)) but decided we would like a smaller dog for our family...
Looking into "family" dogs we fell in love with basset hounds! Lucy is doing a great job adjusting to our family, as we are to her! Our boys are learning about "pupply nibbles" when she plays! The only thing I don't know how to work around is digging? Any advice? Pictures below (sorry only one for now!) |

What a heartbreaker she is!!! Keep those pics coming!
You say you have a probelm with digging - is it when she is alone outside? Bassets get bored very easily and when they get bored they get into trouble. Some of mine "dig" at the rugs or furniture trying to nest. This is just normal behavior and I haven't got a clue as to how to correct it. Give her a big smoochy kiss for being so cute.

What a cutie pie!! I love her soptted ears. If she is digging outside at only one or two spots, you might try sprinkling powdered cayenne pepper in the area. One good whiff of that up her sensitive nose may stop her. it has worked for me in the past. Good luck, and enjoy your new Basset. I'm sure you'll be hooked.

actually, it is only one spot! I will have to try the cayenne pepper idea if it persists!
my wife and I laugh at the energy and speed she gets out of no-where! we get a little stressed since we also have two young boys (four and 18mths) but we know it will be worth it when we can trust her on her own inside a little more |

Oh, she's really cute. That face truly has "Bassetude". I love those ears, too.
