Today I bought new leashes and harness' for the boys. When I took them on walks before, they would pull so hard on their collars, that they would gag & choke themselves. (chasing rabbits) My concern was that I might not be able to hold them back if they were in a harness. Today they were easy to control, but of coarse we didn't see any rabbits.
We'll see how it goes when they do their "power" pull. (or what I call their squat down and drag me) First time they ever had them on, and Dozer acted like I put it on him all the time. He just stood there while I adjusted the straps. Digger wasn't bad, but I had to call him back a few times before I got it on him. I also went from 16 foot retractable leashes to 24 foot. They can now run ahead and sniff stuff, while I catch up to them. Here they are getting a drink after our short & hot mid-afternoon walk. We usually go for sunday morning walks when it's cooler. (we'll see tomorrow)

I love purple! It reminds me how royal our houndies can be!
It still amazes me the strength they have! If mine are on leashes and they catch a scent I'd better be ready!

Mine used to choke themselves also so I too switched to harnesses. It has worked out for the better.
