My husband and I are being sent to La Grande, Oregon for about 6 months and need to either find a cheap extended stay hotel or a place to rent. Along the way we need to find dog friendly places (from Lubbock, TX). Anyone know of any? We are really stressed and have to leave by Friday!!!
Any help is so much appreciated (I'd kiss you if I could! LOL)
I can't help with Oregon other than to suggest going online to contact area realtors.
As far as the trip itself, above is one link that might help. If you google "pet friendly" you will find more. I think most Motel 8's are pet friendly, and reasonably priced. If you know where your stops will be, making reservations in advance helps minimize stress.
When traveling across country, remember to bring vet records. We stop every 3 hours or so for potty breaks and walks, and we always keep plenty of water in the car.
Keep them on the same schedule they are on at home as much as possible.
Alot of restaurants allow dogs in outdoor eating situations- more than you would think.
Oh thank you so much! I have done some "pet friendly" searches but haven't really come up with anything. My husband and I are the type to drive til we get tired so its hard to say where we'll end up each night... makes it hard to travel with the dogs but... I just don't know. I'm sorry if none of this makes sense, I'm just ready to pull my hair out. We literally just got the last picture on the wall from "settling down for a while."... or so the company told us we would...
I guess now I just need to find a cheap place to stay while up there... Any ideas anyone?
As a frequent traveler myself, I can recommend Extended Stay America and Amerisuites as two pet friendly and economical extended stay brands. I'm not sure if either one has a location near where you are staying but I'm sure you could find out on the web. Happy trails and I wish you a safe journey!
Also, check out www.petswelcome. com. Lots of potential places to stay on the way. The Red Lion chain of motels in the West is very nice and takes pets, also.
As far as a place to stay in La Grande, try www.craigslist.org and search the Eastern Oregon area for housing. Good luck.
