:P I have been lurking here for awhile. I have been a basset lover through 5 hounds. I currently have two, but have fostered several also.
I am am generally a very private person who prefers the company of my hounds and a good book to that of company or tv.
Being almost ancient, I tend to be very conservative and opinionated, but am mindful to not be shrill or harsh.
Having said that I will probably be responding mostly to the informational and more serious posts, but I also very much enjoy reading all the light hearted banter and sharing that goes on here. This seems like a pretty nice place considering what all else is out there on the web.

Hello, you sound a lot like me. Have you ever gotten comments because of
that from other people? I'm not very fond of TV-entertainment myself, and I've
some friends have made fun of me because of that. But I like that the TV don't
take up all of my time. We have better things to do you know ;-)

Anyway, I'm sure we would all love to see pictures of you hounds. Please post. :-)

Welcome to the forum! I too am not a fan of TV. I always tell my Husband I could easily live without one. This forum is a great place for information!

Hi and welcome from another "almost ancient"!! So glad you are no longer lurking and joining in the fun and sharing information about the Basset breed. I, too, am a book lover, listen to "easy listening music" , and watch very few TV shows. Do post pics of your fur kids!

This is Bogie's spot when I settle in with a good book.

Just had to jump in about one of my favorite soapbox subjects: TV.

I don't own one basically because I think they are a good way to suck away your whole life. Belle and Gunther don't like TV either, but they do like popcorn.

Welcome to participating in the forum - actually my job in the real world is to call out lurkers --- glad you shared!

Thankyou, I would love to post pictures but find the whole process of setting up an account at photo bucket or wherever and then going through all the steps to put them on a forum tedious and frustrating. I am not real computer savy and I get impatient.

My Bassets are often like watching a TV show. A cartoon, really! They put on such a show for us in the evening. I'm sure yours does the same.

And speaking of TV ...I do like to watch a few shows. HOWEVER ...these two come charging into the living room the moment they hear us turn it on. They think it's playtime. Time to drag every squeaky from the bin and proceed to do either the Drop and Roll ...or the Basset 500. Either event prevents the watching of much TV.
