I gave Miss Cleo a bath yesterday and after it was all said and done, the hilarity that ensued was just too much not to share. She rolled and groaned all over our carpeted patio, but the funniest thing she did was to flatten out her back legs and rub her own belly on the rough carpet and groaned the entire time! Is this pretty normal? It was just HILARIOUS!

I always hesitate to use "normal" when dealing with a basset. But, Cleo's behavior is not abnormal!

I think a lot of houndies (mine included) run around doing a frantic basset 500 and shaking off the water all over the house.

I couldn't agree more. When I read the title I thought the same thing. There's nothing normal for bassets.

This beasty has done some of the most comical things I've ever seen come out of a dog. No wonder people go basset bonkers! I'm hooked!

Yep, it doesn't take long to fall under their spell! We'll see how long it takes to get #2, then #3 ........................

I'm afraid this one is my beasty limit. My house was full to begin with! 5 cats, 2 hamsters, 1 GSD mix

Normal it is!

A wee picture repost to prove the point:

Mr. Runcible says: Doesn't all the loose skin make us look funny?

If I let them mine roll all over the couch, the rugs and everywhere. Their favorite place of course is in the dirt right after a bath

The middle picture of your great montage says it all, although the glowing turquoise eyes have a bassety charm all their own....
