I'll show you how flat one can get.
Dozer knows when I'm ready to leave the house and that I close off the living room before I go. He will drop to the floor in the living room and refuses to get up. Digger even tries to help.

Very flat basset video:

Sadie will do that at night when I'm ready to go o bed. I get ready to let them out for one last potty break and Sadie will be laying on the living room floor and won't get up, I try nudging her like you did with Dozer and she won't budge. I know she does it on purpose, she eventually gets up and goes out but she has to go when she is ready and only when she is ready. I have tried just leaving her there and just going to bed but then she will decided to get up and want out just as I'm falling asleep and I have to get back up and let her out. Everything has to be on their terms, after all we are their slaves

Great video, captures that Bassitude perfectly. Quite familiar with that around here since Lily is a diva and Gibbs is a baby.

[Dobby does that too, only usually in the middle of his walk, he drops to the ground in a superman pose and refuses to get up no matter...my hubby has even been known to carry him home instead of dragging and cajoling because he is so embarrassed to be seen with this dog who is being so abused by being forced to walk..lol

Jasmine has been known to do that when we're attempting to go out and need to put her and her sister in the kitchen. She usually runs to the far end of the lounge and up on the couch. She can be a bit grumbly and growly at times, but we now keep a thin house lead on her when we're home, which makes guiding her into the kitchen easy (she's never done a flat basset on a walk, so it doesn't seem to occur to her while on a lead).

Moosie goes flat on us when we try to put his medicine in his ears. He starts by running away as soon as he sees the medicine bottle.... then comes back, looks at us and goes down...then we go through the rolling over....curling up into a ball and on the back with all four paws in the air and his tongue hanging out!
