I thought I would introduce myself!

My name is Shawna, and I have just adopted a 5 mo. old baby Basset from an animal shelter here in Ks. He is a total doll! I have never had a Basset before, and my son thought we ought to have one! He named the baby FRED. Fred is actually my sons...my son will be 20 this Aug. and yes, he still lives at home!

I have been married for 21 yrs. and we have 3 mastiffs, 2 of which are therapy dogs, and one is a rescue. Fred fits right in with my gentle giants. I will post pics sometime soon.

I live in the country, and I have 2 horses and assorted other animals!

I have been reading this forum for awhile now. I am very excited to learn all I can about the Basset breed. I am a training instructor at my local kennel club, and I am a volunteer for F.O.R.M. (Friends Of Rescued Mastiffs) and also the local animal shelter.

My son will be Fred's "trainer", and (hopefully) get his CGC....I on the other hand would love for Fred to be one of my therapy dogs!

I also want to add that this is a very nice forum with very nice people...I know I will enjoy it here!

Warm welcome!
Looking forward to the pics! :P

Bassets are not easily trained to anything useful,
but good luck!

I'm always happy to see other therapy dogs on the forum- the basset's sweet, laid back personality make them ideal for this work, and there's such an overwhelming need for certified teams!

I'm looking forward to seeing pictures of your gang- welcome!

Welcome to the forum! Sounds like you have quite the group of animals, I can't wait to see the pictures! Tracking is also a fun thing to do with your Basset.

Fred must look very cute playing with his Mastiff siblings! We definitely need pics.

I hope you do the therapy dog training with him. Basset owners who have done this are so thrilled with the outcome! They all say the dogs love it and are great at it.

Sounds like Fred is in for a wonderful life.

Welcome to the Board

Welcome.

What kind of mastiffs do you have? Perhaps it's my favourite the Neapolitan?

Mr. Runcible loves matiffs too. I believe it is because they have the same calm
demeanor. Here are Mr. Runcible and his giant friend:
