like Sweden, Denmark, Italy, Canada, USA and of course many places in Norway.

Now the time has come to England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland. If any well mannered
basset in the mentioned countries wants to be visited and photographed, please send

Steinar, you will love Ireland. My favorite place in the whole world. I never saw a Basset there though, only Border Collies...and they were working dogs, just amazing!

Make sure you do the "Gap of Dunloe" tour in Killarney. I have been back to do it three times. 7 mile walk through a Mountain Gap, (Purple tomies on one side and green mountains on the other), when you get through the Gap, and along the way see tons of flora and fauna, you come to the Black Valley. It's God's place. After a lunch in the mountains, you take a boat from the upper lakes to the middle lakes to the lower lake, getting out of the boat to pull it through a locke. After your glorious photos of Norway, I know you would be loving this! You can walk through the Gap, or you can ride on pony and trap...just like Emily Bronte did! Ask for Sean...he will give you the ride of your life!

Now, that said....are you bringing the "girls" with you?

It is my personal belief that a "well-mannered" Basset is somewhere between the age of six and nine years old. He has finished with the wild craziness of his youth (for the most part), and hasn't yet entered his elder years when cranky disobedience is the rule (a right every elder has earned ).

Steinar, when are you coming to Southern New England? We are currently enjoying Moe's "well-mannered" stage and he is very good with company. You could also meet my friend's three young Bassets (a little less well-mannerd - maybe a LOT less - but a joyful, friendly, and handsome group of very well-bred Bassets). You could get a great photo for your collection on the beautiful Cliff Walk, or on the grounds of a Newport mansion, or maybe even one in front of the Rhode Island Red (Chicken) Monument at the bottm of my hill. That's in our tiny village of Adamsville - it takes all of ten seconds to drive through it. But it has several great attractions - The Barn (a breakfast resturaunt in a renovated antique barn), Gray's store (recently determined to be the oldest store in the US), and Gray's Mill (an authentic old mill that still grinds grain with millstones - and no relation to Gray's Store).

Ooops! I DID forget to mention the Sakonnet Vineyard... very naughty of me. Especially giving the fact that when I drink wine it's always got to be Sakonnet's 'Eye of the Storm'!! We usually go to Sakonnet Vinyard in August (usually the first Sunday of August) for the Rythim and Blues Festival. You can sip wine and listen from the Vinyard's patio, or dance in the field to the live music of multiple wonderful bands.
