I took Noonie to the vet today for his annual check-up. He does really well, but gets a little anxious. They always try to give him treats, but he never eats them. I always thought he was just too nervous in that environment to enjoy a treat. The vet tried the typical vitamin type treat and Noonie just dropped it like usual. Then she brought out a bag of duck jerky chips. He really went for those. He had several and after each one he looked at her and barked for more. He really had us laughing and won her over with his act. It was like he couldn't get enough. In the end I came home with two bags and it looks like all three of my babies are hooked. I guess there are worse things to be addicted to.

If you can't find them at your vet or local pet store try the below link. And you can't beat the price. When I bought these yesterday and they rang up at $2.00 I thought they had made a mistake. I guess not.

I buy Moe's chicken jerky treats at our local BJ's (wholesale club). Since a neighbor told me about them they have become Moe and Tally's favorite treats, even outdoing Greenies. I was spending $50-60 a month for those , plus shipping, so I was glad to find a locally available treat that they both liked. Chicken jerky is a LOT cheaper! I saw the duck jerky in a catalog and wanted to try it, but then it slipped my mind and I never did. I'll be sure to try them now - I bookmarked your link. Thanks!

Also, a question for anyone... does anyone know how to get accurate nutrition info on dog treats? I particularly would like to find calorie and fat content of certain treats (such as the chicken jerky), as I'm concerned about Tally's weight. I would like to give her treats appropriate for her size but without causing additional weight gain. She so LOVES her treat time...

Moe is fit and trim and I find it hard to give him treats and not Tally. She can look VERY pitiful if I try and she always hears me opening the bag and comes running. That, coupled with her sneaky habit of stealing Moe's treats and hiding them under the couch cushions and pillows for later consumption, has led to a potentially serious health issue.

Francis is about as picky as a vacuum cleaner when it comes to treats. He just sucks them all in without regard to taste, smell and nutrition content.
I wonder if you can get nutrition content on the web sites?

We have routine for "treats". After I get home at night, make my way through the greeting party at the door, I change my clothes with everyone supervising the event. Once changed it is treat time. There is this mad rush to the kitchen, you dare not be in the way.....and everyone assumes the position..treats are pulled out from the cabinet, normally with a little help and divided up. You have to make certain they are equal in number, cause you know they can count....everyone then assumes the sitting and begging position...it is so quiet you can hear a pin drop! FINALLY, the treats are gobbled down like they have never eaten in their lives....once it is over, I get these really sad looks! I think I will try the jerky for a change of pace! Sounds like a good idea!
