Does anyone know of any tracking information/classes/clubs to be found in South Carolina? I'm interested in doing some tracking with my hounds but don't know where to begin. I'd also like to know what a good book would be to introduce me tracking. I've read bits and pieces and what I've read has been either really technical or doesn't fully explain some things which leads me to believe that is for the more advanced trackers. I'm brand new when it comes to the tracking world and don't know where to start. Thank you in advance for any and all help!

Tracking with a Basset Hound by Ruth Paule can be ordered via the BHCA website. Tracking Dog theory and methods by Glen R. Johnson can probably be ordered at Amazon. Go to the BHCA website to see if you can get any info. Good luck, Belinda.

I know that my Roxie's litter mate just got her title in South Carolina. I'll have to see where they go for tracking classes.

The only tracking book I've ever found helpful was Glen Johnson's
"Tracking Dog". Amazon still sells it. One caveat...he recommends tracking almost every day. I don't know anyone that does that any more. Even with lots of food on the track, for my Bassets it's three times a week, short tracks, max. Have fun!
