Something is wrong with Rusty's front right leg. It all started when he sliped on the lenolium in my kitchen, a day ago. and ever since then he has been limping. He lets me rub and massage it without yelping or cying. I called our vet and he said that it is probably just sprained. he recamended asprin. Is there anything else I should do? as far as pain goes. I hate seeing him limp.

How old is Rusty? Besides the aspirin (use Ascriptin), crate rest would be a good idea. If he doesn't improve in a day or so, he needs to be seen by your vet. Good luck--hope it's nothing serious.

He Is 3yrs old. Where do you find that drug you reccamend. He has improved, his limp is getting better. Do you think it is something he will walk off?

You can get Ascriptin at the drug store. It's aspirin buffered with Maalox.
When my dogs injure themselves to the point of lameness, I don't wait to see if it will go away on its own. I get them to the vet for an exam and x-rays, if indicated. For me, it's worth the peace of mind.

Prices vary, depending on where you live, and whether your vet thinks Rusty needs x-rays.

I'd suggest calling your vet in the a.m. and finding out what s/he would charge. Good luck, and I hope Rusty continues to improve.

I can't believe a vet said use asprin. My vet sad to never give asprin to a dog. Flash jumped off the table once when he was about 3. I took him to our vet and he did not do x-rays but determined that it was a strain and told me to try and keep him still as much as possible. He also gave me a Rx for a dog anti inflamitory. If he still limps I would be sure and get it seen about.
