Hi everyone,
Pearl, my 4 year old basset will probably have to undergo emergency surgery today for an abdominal obstruction. We are worried...she's not a counter surfer, and we can't imagine what she got into, if anything. Keep your fingers crossed for us--the vet said that if it cleared miraculously by this am, we'd be ok, but I don't see signs of that.

Oh, no! We'll be thinking of you and Pearl and sending positive thoughts your way. When you get a chance, let us know how she's doing.

Oh Sharon that's awful. Will be thinking of you both and hoping that surgery won't be needed after all.

Thank you every one for your kind thoughts.
Update on Pearl--yesterday morning, the vet said the barium scans looked better, and we were on a wait and see basis. She got cottage and rice yesterday, and seems to be doing ok. But we don't know if it was an obstruction that is clearing itself, or is just moving around, and could re-lodge, or something else (bad day, colitis). Please continue to think good thoughts, and if we get answer, I'll post. Some times these things just go away, and we never find out what was wrong.

As of tonight, Pearl is still 'under observation', but so far, she's starting to feel good again, wants to play her obedience 'games'. Since the vet said that avoiding surgery would be a 'miracle', I have to conclude that all that drool really did work. Thanks! The weekend will probably tell the tale, but all is well for now.
