Hello! I am new to this forum. My basset hound, Annie, is about 8 years old, and I've had her for 3 years. But Within the past week and a half, she has begun to lick everything, the floor, chairs, blankets, her bed, and under her arms and legs. She's very itchy under her neck and belly. Along with that, her mouth has been bothering her. She rubs her face on things, kicks at her cheek/neck, and when she yawns, she doesn't do a full yawn. It's half a yawn and then a little whimper. I'm very concerned about her, and will take her to the vet asap. I was wondering if anyone has an idea on what it could be? It's just strange all these things at once.

Last summer Murray started licking blankets like that- I looked at this mouth and realized he had an infected puncture on his lip (I think our Dachshund nipped him- we cleared it up with antibiotics ) Can you see any sores or anything obvious?
It could just be itchy skin from allergies, but when you mentioned the half yawn and whimper along with the licking, it made me think of Murray's sore lip. |
