Need advise please!!!!

Our basset Flash is almost 2 and for the last month or so she developed to dry scally spots on belly and armpit. She itches them like crazy. I have spent hours on research and believe it is seborrhea. I was hoping someone who has a dog that has this problem could inform me on what to excpect and how to help my poor Flash out. And Thanks in advance.

sheborrhea is an overall skin problem in basset the most common varriet is the oily type in basset which is large flacky dandruff coupled with an oily greasy feeling coat. Which does not sound like what Flash has. I woul more suspecious of a local yeast infection which are ussual caused by alergies In any case the best way to work through skin issue is with a vet certified in dermatology.

Thanks Mikey T. I have a vet appointment next Friday allthough he is not specailized in dermintology. The closest dermintologist is over an hour away and is only open 2x a month. Thats why I came on here. I wasnt for sure if it was Seborrhea or not. (I sure hope its not and it is something that can be easily treated) Do you know of any way to ease for comfort until we make it to the vet?

We went to the vet and he said it was allergies. He gave her a shot and it only lasted a week and she started itching again. This is the second time we took her to the vets for this and its not getting any worse or better. We also are doing a grain free diet and oatmeal baths. I dont know what else to do. I am tryong to get back into the vet soon. I will ask him about the yeast dermatitis. Thanks for the info. HOPEFULLY we can get her relieved soon. I hate seeing her this way.

I'm so sorry about your Flash - I pulled my hair out for months with Mabel with the same thing - we were aggressively testing for everything while treating for allergies – finally after we put her on a special hypoallergenic diet her hair is going back. She was completely bald from her chin – down her fully belly.

Best of luck to your little one - with a name of Flash she has a special place in my heart....

Hey I just posted a long MSG in the general forum. Let me know if that sounds like same problems as flash. Cuz I may be in same boat as you with allergies. I thought it was something in our carpet but we recently moved and Virgil is still itching like crazy so I didn't think it could be something in our carpet.

Thanks!!! I posted on your thread. It does sound very silimar to what flash has. How big are the sore spots? Flash's has one about quater size adn the other size of a pinky nail and thats it.

Our new basset is of two month. But he is not eating any thing from few days. just resting at one place, not going for walk also. Don't know what had happened. Please suggest me something...
