Please see my other post today for more details, but long story short Libby is dealing with some bacterial cysts on her feet, and some general basset yeast problems from time to time.
She is on antibiotics, but I have been researching some other solutions as well to improve her health and get rid of the cysts. From what I have read coconut oil has antifungal and antibacterial properties. It can also help heal wounds/scratches, can help with allergies, and improve coat etc Does anyone give their dog coconut oil or coconut chips? Here's one article on the benefits of coconut oil for dogs (OK for cats too): http://www.victoriasallnaturalpethea..._oil_dogs.html Any thoughts on coconut oil for bassets? haha, eclairsmom, I get your drift with too much! I think I will just rub it on her affected paws right now to see if it helps with the cysts.
I actually rub coconut oil on my upper arms after showers because it really helps with my keratosis pilaris. It's a completely benign condition, but looks awful if I don't use coconut oil. |
