Thanks, MissChloe! I am glad that I can take her on Friday because the vet will be less busy than on the weekend so we will have more time to chat. It doesn't really seem to be bugging Libby so I hope it turns out to be nothing serious! Having something weird on her foot is a weird and concerning thing though!

Louie used to lick his feet constantly, but Mikey T is right...in Lou's case it was yeast. Frequent bathing was the only thing that helped that issue.

Yep, Ms Annie LOVES to lick, herself, the floor, her crate, her beds.......drives me batty. I started thinking she does it to get my attention as I tell her to stop. I envision this massive hairball in her tummy

Sometimes she does this really weird repetitive licking air kinda thing, not like a hiccup but like she can't stop. One day I almost took her to the vet because it looked like she was filling up with swallowed air, I finally got her settled down and she went to sleep. Thought about giving some gas x........anyone have episodes like this?

Interdigital Furunculosis: Introduction

Quote:
Early lesions of interdigital furunculosis may appear as focal or generalized areas of erythema and papules in the webbing of the feet that, if left untreated, rapidly develop into single or multiple nodules. The latter usually are 1-2 cm in diameter, reddish purple, shiny, and fluctuant; they may rupture when palpated and exude a bloody material. Interdigital furuncles are most commonly found on the dorsal aspect of the paw, but may also be found ventrally. Furuncles are usually painful, and the dog may be obviously lame on the affected foot (or feet) and lick and bite at the lesions. Lesions caused by a foreign body, eg, a grass awn, are usually solitary and often occur on a front foot; recurrence is not common in these cases. If bacteria cause the interdigital furunculosis, there may be several nodules with new lesions developing as others resolve. A common cause of recurrence is the granulomatous reaction to the presence of free keratin in the tissues

Thanks, Mikey T. We took Libby to the vet today and the vet said cysts. Based on your description I think she has interdigital furnuculosis. I will post a separate post about this, but do you have any advice or resources for me to look at?

The vet put her on an antibiotic and gave us antibacterial wash to use on her feet.

I am thinking her licking is to get my attention. She licks more right after she wakes up and needs to go potty....I mean it is continuous until I take her out. I have been keeping track of it and this makes the most sense.

But I will definitely keep an eye on her feet.....
