Chloe didn't have a very good day....she threw up bile this morning. She has been kind of low key and even gave the Lab a break (which he didn't mind). We went visiting earlier today and when we got home she went right to her pillow and took a nap. I made her some white rice and she had that for breakfast and dinner (I tell you what....her long ears made eating rice very messy). She hasn't thrown up since this morning so I think she just needs to sleep it off. I hate seeing her under the weather.....This is the second time in a few weeks that she has thrown up yellowish bile....anyone else have this problem?

Ours tend to throw up bile from time to time, especially if it's been a little too long between feedings. We feed our three in the morning and in the evening and make sure to give them a biscuit or two before bed so they don't get sick in the mornings. That said, they still throw up bile from time to time.
When Rosco was a puppy, I found that his stomach couldn't tolerate rawhides very well. He would get sick and be lethargic after having one and it could last for a day or so. It's not unusual for dogs to get sick from time to time. I wouldn't worry much if she's eating, drinking and not throwing up. However, if she stop eating, drinking or pooping a vet visit is in order. Try give a biscuit before bed at night and perhaps a biscuit in the middle of the day. Hope Chloe is feeling better soon! |

Agree, Annie throws up bile a few times a month typically......usually late afternoon/evening before her meal. I feed 3 times a day, small meals. Haven't really found the "cure" to prevent it, but usually wait an hour or so before I attempt to feed. As long as she is willing to eat/drink and perks up activity wise tomorrow I wouldn't worry. But if not, may want to see the vet. Could she have eaten something problematic?

vomiting bile sjhortly before meal time is know as empty stomach syndrome this ussually occurs before breakfast because that is ussual the longest time between meals ih have found with a couple beagle with this problem a dog cookie or two before bed ended the problem
Keeping in mind a single incident is not much of an indication of anything if it is a farily regular occurance that is another matter. |

She hasn't thrown up since the other day....It is good to know that others do this and it shouldn't be anything too serious. Today she decided that she didn't want to eat until dinner. I would give her her food and she would just walk away. I figured she would eat when she was ready. So she only had one meal today. She gets a tiny cookie each time she comes in from going potty so I feel better knowing she is getting something.
I will try the biscuit before bed. I never give my dogs rawhide... when I was younger we had a dog choke on one and my mother had to pull it out from his throat....that scared me off of rawhide forever. It is possible that she got into something since she loves to chew up everything at this point. It is definitely like having a baby in the house and having to watch her like a hawk. |

First time seeing your thread - but just wanted to say its good to hear that she's doing better now. Nothing worse then having a sick baby at home is there.

My dog throws up yellow stuff after ingesting weeds in the garden but after that she's fine. I think eating weed for them to throw up is their way of healing their tummy.

Good to hear she's not been sick again.
Monty throws up bile now and again, usually during the night. I agree with what everyone else has said, so long as she's eating etc and it's not happening every day I wouldn't be overly worried. It's just not nice when your foot lands in it when you step of the stairs and it's right there..... |
