Today is a bad day for Flash. When she woke up, she again can’t lift her head and is walking extremely slow. I gave her some Tramadol a little while ago which appears to have kicked in – she’s sleeping next to me now with her soft snore. I’m at a wait and see right now, but God I’m afraid to say out loud the kind of discussion I might have to make soon.

wait and see is good. You will know if and when the time comes she will tell you.this could sound strange but ask Flash to let you know when she has had enough.I forgot when Bubba was sick that I was afraid I wouldn't know when he had enough of everything and it was time,I told him he would need to let me know.He did. You can only go day to day and see how it goes.Take Care

We might have an idea tomorrow what the mystery is that Flash has. They moved up her biopsy for sometime tomorrow – as of now I’m not sure of the time because they’re fitting her in. She’s sleeping comfortably next to me now and just ate a nice lunch. They’ve increased all her meds again to Metronidazole – Rimadyl – Gabapentin and Tramadol HCL.
The pocket on her neck has changed in size and moved in more of a wrapping around her throat. It also has changed in the denseness of it and again had a pus that was able to be drawn out. It also appears that there is another growth that’s new growing off of it. And… She has a new growth on the right side of her snout with the same liquid. I’ve just told the vet I don’t want Flash to have any undo suffering before she passes over the bridge. If she thought in any way she would have that before the biopsy tomorrow that I wanted to release her now. She looked me in the eye and said she didn’t think she would. So right now I just have to believe that I can keep her comfortable till tomorrow when we find out once and for all what the hell is going on here. Or by Friday at the latest. Fingers crossed and prayers are said. Jen~ |

Awww... thanks for the updates about Flash. Yes, we can see those growths on Flash's nose. It is good that a pathologist is looking at everything.
Worm says that he hopes it's an infection that can be treated with antibiotics-- that's what he is voting for... he is sending "wub" to Flash. We are all thinking of you and Flash here. please keep us posted... |

Well, today is a good & bad kinda day. All the meds that Flash is on again appear to be working and she is not in the pain she was yesterday, and she has movement back in her neck again. Not full motion but she is getting there. So yea for that! They still don’t know what’s causing this but at least they know how to fix it quickly.
Today she was going to have the biopsy and another ultrasound while she’s out for the biopsy – but… late last night I got a call from my doctor letting me know that the doctor that would be doing the ultrasound was sick – she didn’t know how sick because her husband called her and she didn’t get a chance to talk to her personally – so… we wouldn’t know till today if she would be just having the biopsy today or waiting till tomorrow so Dr. Allen could also do the ultrasound. Tomorrow won, because Dr. Allen wants to try and get a better look at the spots in her belly and what better time than when she’s already sleeping. I also found out that depending on what this is, Flash may have to have one more surgery to completely remove the mass on her neck/throat. Because of where it’s located and what’s it’s close to she would have to have it done by a specialist. Even though he’s not in their office at least he’s close - we’ve been very lucky so far that we have so many great vets so close to where we live. Dr. Allen also located the lab that can check for mycobacterium tuberculosis – She spoke with them yesterday and received confirmation they would look at Flash’s samples for us. I guess there are less than a handful of labs that can check for this. So as I sit here and type this, Flash is at my feet sleeping comfortable and we still don’t know what is going on. But… we are one step closer. I think my husband said it best last night when we we’re trying to figure out when enough were enough. He said – as long as flash’s eyes are bright and she is showing signs of wanting to keep fighting – we’ll do whatever it takes for her. Yesterday afternoon when you would think she would just want to crawl in her bed and call it a night with all the pain she was in – she wanted me to take her for a little walk. We only went down one house and turned around – but it made her happy. To me it was showing she still wanted to keep living and full speed ahead. But the other question I ask myself – when do you know they’re fighting to keep going because it’s what they want or when their doing it for you? I think that’s one of my biggest problems about now – there are just too many question and not enough answers. Thanks so much for all the sloppy healing drool you’ve been sending her way! Jen~ |

Flash is in surgery now having her biopsy and ultrasound – It’s a sit and watch the phone day. Fingers crossed and prayers said that I’ve done all I can for her, we find out what is wrong and most importantly we can fix it. It feels like we’ve been dealing with this for so long that I can’t remember when my head wasn’t spinning.
