Default white eyes?

good morning,
my name is Phill and im new to this website, i have a 6 month old tricolour called fred. im looking for advice on a problem with his eyes.

for the last 2 days when he gets up in the morning there is white skin like material covering his eyes. this does clear up after a while but does come back occasionaly.
is this normal? should i be worried?

Thanks in advance for any help

It's perfectly normal. All dogs have a third membrane like eye lid called a haw. It serves to help keep the eyes moist and provides protection. It's most visible when they are sleepy or have just woken up. Nothing to be concerned about.

I would be concerned if it starts to look inflamed or redness occurs.

It can also show up when they have been given a sedative.

If its only when sleeping it is ok/normal but if it remains covering the eye when the dog is awake there is a problem from eye irrration, allergies, glaucoma, etc
