Default Facial swelling in heat?

Does anybody know if facial swelling while my daisy is in heat is normal? Her vagina swelled up in the last few hours which I know is normal but in the last hour or so now her face has. She doesn't seem to be in any discomfort but I've never seen this before.

NOT normal, I've never had that happen with one of my girls.

Perhaps she is having some sort of allergic reaction to something, or got bitten by something.

I'd have it checked out.

I got up last night to check on daisy and all the swelling was gone (WHEW) and this morning she was fine. But now after about a 20 minute licking session it looks like the swelling is coming back, it's almost like she's having an allergic reaction to herself. This never happens when she hasn't been in heat. I'll call the vet and see if I should be concerned.

20 minute licking sessions aren't typical either - I'd suspect some sort if irritant. Perhaps she is allergic to one of your household cleansers, carpets, or laundry detergents and is more sensitive than normal due to being in season.

Yikes... yeah I'd phone the vet at least and have them look at her. Perhaps maybe some benedryl or whatever the vet recommends. Then try washing the bedding in some Tide Free or something.
