Default joint issues and whinning... related?

My basset is 7 months old and she has some joint issues in one of her front paws that recently started. we brought her to the vet and they said to just watch her and if it gets worse bring her back in. It hasnt really gotten any worse but shes started whinning a lot and I know the breed is known to whine for attention and what not so I figured Id ask to see if the whinning could be because of pain or is she just tricking us into feeling bad.

Also, is there anything we can do for her leg, Im sure were going to bring her back to the vet this week but is there anything we should suggest to our vet. She limps when she walks and runs and it gets worse the more she does so weve been trying to limit her activity as best we can.

Thanks!

Just wondering what exactly the joint issues are.

My Moe was BYB bred and has a leg deformity that was common to pups bred by this particular guy. Moe left front leg is "Z" shaped. When he was young he was a normal and active guy. After a hard day of running laps around the house and chasing Tally he would end up limping. Our vet had me give him a half of a Buffered Aspirin. It seemed to help him. As he became less active (say, after 5 yrs or so ) the problem seemed to go away. Moe was fortunate - at least two of his siblings required reconstructive surgery just to walk. We met them at a Basset Bash...

I almost forgot about the whining. Moe is a whiner. His whining is not a sign of something wrong. It's more of a form of communication and it usually means "Give me ________ " (fill in the blank with cookies, belly-rubs, water, dinner, attention, etc). It used to drive me nuts but I'm so used to it I hardly notice it anymore. I can tell if something is wrong more by his actions and/or body language. I know him well enough to read him.

I am wondering if your pup might have pano. Did your vet mention anything about that?
Yogi had it when he was a puppy and was in quite a bit of pain, to the point where he did not even want to eat.
