Our Jake--12 yrs-- ruptured a disc (while we were bathing him), resulting in rear leg lameness. He had a laminectomy two wks. ago and the biopsy was negative for tumor, so good news, but not using rear legs yet. Wagging tail, no incontinence, eating, drinking, ready to go. Dr. a bit concerned and suggested we get wheels for him in meantime. Currently have a rear lift harness, but not sure how the wheels would do for him. Anyone have experience with this and recommendations--all welcome.

It sounds like Jake is doing extremely well. The tail wag and ability to urinate on his own along bode well!

Most vets would recommend waiting a few weeks after a laminectomy. We can build a custom dog cart/wheelchair in 24-48 hours after we receive the measurements. So the hardest part now would be to measure "Jake." As long as he has good forelimb strength and is no longer in any pain, you will probably be surprised how he immediately would take to a cart.
