Personally I like to wait until one is 1.5 years - this is a good age to bring in a newbie. They are nearly almost matured, somewhat calmer and able to be a good teacher. I do regret waiting 7 years with Lula before Izzy - wish I did it earlier but then I wouldn't have my Izzy If I am buying a puppy I prefer around 8-9 weeks old - we're experienced hound owners and I want the important bonding time (before 12 weeks) to be with the new forever family.
