Congratulations on a new champion. Bred to the right male makes all the difference in the world. My breeding is an outcross and it worked out great.

This is torture pure and simple – but I love it. They are just too cute and I’m sure it’s not going to be easy on you when you have to part with them.

"Outcross" is the term used when there are no or very few dogs in the linage(pedigree) related to each other.Esa is an outcross of," Foxglen","Ol' South" lines ,and the sire Manny,is linebred on," Von Skauton" and," Lochopt" they have no common ancestors.Outcross is sort of a gamble of what you may get in the puppies.I wanted some show puppies since I wanted one for myself, this turned out to be the best I could have possibly done,I have several potential show prospects in this litter. It is unfortunate that many times there are not enough show homes avalible and possibly a show puppy is placed in a "Pet" home. The best breedings usually occur when the dogs are "Linebred"which mean both the sire and dam have many dogs in common on both sides of the pedigree. There is also "Inbreeding" which should be left to the more experienced breeder since they are breeding brother to sister, father to daughter. If you are not careful with inbreeding you could breed as many bad problems into the breed as you could good. If I didn't explain that properly Soundtrack may be able to.LOL

Thanks, think I've got it. Thought it was something totally different. This breeding properly seems pretty intricate to me.

Met a guy at park several years ago who had a female. He asked me two questions, Was Toby was a male and would I let him mate with his female. If he'd looked at him properly, he would have seen that he was neutered.

Wish these folk would read threads like this and learn what proper breeding really entails. On the other hand it probably wouldn't make much difference.

On another occasion I met a guy who asked if my westie was K.C. registered. I replied yes, he then said he would pay me if he bred his own bitch who wasn't K.C. and registered the pups in my westie's name. Couldn't believe it!!!

Oh yeah ,believe it! They find all kinds of ways to do fraudulant things with dogs. If someone is restricted of registering any dogs for a period of time by the AKC they get family members to sign things for them and many times it slips through. " Breeding Properly", as you put it so well, requires a lot of knowing the dogs in the pedigrees and what they have sired or given birth to.Sometimes, just sometimes, you get lucky.
