I just heard from Jane and she had a few of her buyers back out so I know for sure she has a few boys available at the moment but I'm not sure about the girls. They would all be tricolor as both parents are black tris. Fabulous breeding though and both parents are spectacular specimens... these puppies are actually very closely related to my puppies I had as the mother of the litter is the littermate of the stud we used and the father (sire of the litter) is my girl's father. Therefore they are very close genetically and I honestly can tell you this is one of the nicest matches I could have hoped for. Our girl is naughty as heck mind you but all three of our puppies are as dynamic as we could have ever hoped for and two of the three will likely end up in the ring.

We've always had female dogs, so we're pretty attached to the idea of a female. Olde Fashion's dogs are beautiful and we've asked them to let us know if a female becomes available.

Our Loopy also had significant health problems, though she was the love of my life. We had years of emergency vet visits, specialists, therapy and very expensive medicine. Our family just can't go through that again. We want to take the repsonsible road and go through a responsible breeder, but it is difficult to tell who is responsible and not. And, this after years if going to the Chicago dog show, being on the Drool, and attending Waddles. I never thought this would be this difficult.

Soundtrack, Thank you for the advice. About 10 years ago, you gave me lots of great advice when I was being trained by Loopy as a puppy (my first basset). As always, it is much appreciated.

Yes it seems everyone always wants the girls and I can understand as I know I do love my girls too but I can tell you there is one stand out boy of that litter who is still available from what I just saw. Smiley is one of the nicest and most outgoing of the puppies of that litter and he's still available. I'd say if you ever would consider a boy it should be that one. Now that aside I know she did also just breed one other female to Jimmie the stud we used and those should be some really nice puppies as well so perhaps if you don't find a suitable puppy in the meantime there may be a nice girl in that litter for you. I believe she was bred a few weeks ago so should be due in about a month and a half or so and beleive me that time goes by way too fast.

Only buy a puppy from a breeder that's a member of The Basset Hound Club of America. If they're not a member, they're only in it for the $ and don't care about improving the breed. Take care, Belinda.

Thanks Tracy glad to be here.
Also I forgot to mention that I to want to have my next basset come from a responsible breeder. And have quality parents.I only have one basset left and she is a rescue from the local shelter that I help with. She is the most expensive dog I have so far.(I also have 2 other breeds)and I to would like to get away from all the vet bills.
I also forgot to say that the male from Berry Hill Bassets has Olde Fashion dog in his pedigree.

I would be leery of the longearedbassets. Nowhere in their site do I see anything about health guarentees or returns should something happen. I am not a breeder, but from talking to them it seems tht 8 weeks old is still a bit young to have the pup leave his/her mom, even though it's legal.

I hope you find a good breeder and the puppy of your dreams. But please be careful - too many people buy dogs and have horrendous problems with them.

Question basset puppy

Price is no option. We are willing to travel to meet the breeder and again to pick up the puppy.

Please let me know if you know of anyone with puppies available this spring. We'd prefer a female, red and white or tricolor.
Did you find a basset puppy yet
