I need advice since i cant get to my vet till am.
My 1yr old basset has started panting no reason, she was happily chewing her bone, has water, and has started breathing really heavy and panting. I have looked and i dont see any bone in her throat, she ate a liitle treat fine and isnt coughing.
She has been fighting a bladder infection and was allergic to her first meds, has been on new ones since sat.
I read they can pant when in pain.
She is her cuddly self right now while breathing extra heavy.
Any ideas or things i should do? Or am i being an over worried mom?
Thanks

If she is still doing that, I would definitely call the vet.

Bassets are more likely to react to pain by shivering although of course, panting can be a symptom of some kind of stress (not necessarily pain). If she's reacted to pain meds. before, I think I'd be calling the vet who should have a pick up emergency number, even if closed. Have you checked to see what her gum colour looks like? Should be pink, and certainly not grey or white.
