I don't know, I can think of more than a handful of bratty children that deserve all the negative connotation of the word, and often times more.

But I don't think there's anything wrong with spoiling a dog as long as doing so doesn't harm them or other people. I see people "spoiling" their dog by feeding them too much and making them obese, and that I don't agree with because they're putting the dog at risk.
